Label — Studio — ArtistAbout
An independent label and recording studio in Brooklyn, pressing warm, future-soul records with artists — never around them.
Built like a band, run like a label
Ashgrove started in 2019 as a two-room studio above a print shop. Artists kept asking us to do more than record them — to produce, to sequence, to fight for the weird bridge. So we became the label we kept wishing existed.
Seven years on, the shape hasn't changed: small roster, long sessions, records we can stand behind in any room. Every release is produced or recorded in-house, mixed slow, and pressed to vinyl.
What we believe
01
Takes over fixes
A real performance with rough edges beats a perfect construction every time.
02
Artists own everything
Masters, publishing, artwork — yours. We're a service and a home, not a vault.
03
Rooms matter
Records sound like where they were made. Ours is tuned for warmth and honesty.
04
Slow is a strategy
We release a handful of records a year so each one gets our full attention.
The roster
Three acts deep and growing carefully: The Borough, Brooklyn rap with a live-band heart; Elias Finch, salt-air folk tracked live to tape; and the Elijah Mars Quartet, late-night modal jazz with no safety net.
Compilations under the Ashgrove Sessions banner gather outtakes, dubs, and one-take experiments from across the floor.
