A debut with dirt under its nails
The Borough arrived with notebooks full and nothing to prove. We built the record around their live show: break-heavy drums, one-take verses, and choruses cut with the whole crew crowded around a single microphone.
Sessions ran late across three weeks. Most of what you hear is second or third take — we kept the breathing, the room, and the ad-libs the group shouted from the control-room couch.

How it was recorded
Drums went down live in the big room with minimal baffling — we wanted the bleed. Vocals ran through our 1978 chain into tape, then back to digital for editing so nothing lost its edge.
Mixing took eleven days. Every 808 was tuned to the sample's key, every hook got its own plate reverb, and the final masters were cut for vinyl first, streaming second.
